Forum, Schedule, Music, Vote

Saturday, February 2, 2008 11:22 AM

No new news has been posted lately but I've been working hard under the hood of the site to get a lot of new features installed.

The forum is now working but I still want to merge the login of the forum and the rest of the website. I've had the schedule up and running on the site for a few weeks now too and events are posted there at the exact time a new feature is released. Some other new features that have been released on the site within the last few weeks include the Flash music player and there's also a feature on the forum where someone can post a vote poll so the vote feature is also available within the estimated time frame of November.

There are a few features I am still working on through a test server that haven't been launched on Th3Show.com yet because some bugs still need to be worked out and others simply need further production before release. One somewhat significant design feature and one major development feature are currently in the production phase and while the design feature is hopefully available within the next month the development feature will probably not be completed until sometime in the Spring of 2008.

Contact Tab Is Now Available

Tuesday, October 9, 2007 2:16 AM

Now you are able to email contestants from Th3Show right from the website!

You can visit the characters profile or go straight to the Contact Tab to send a message to a character from Th3Show.com You can also send an attachment if you'd like!

Emails sent from Th3Show.com are sent directly to the characters email address and are not viewed by anyone else from Th3Show. Please keep your emails respectable (for the most part) because if I receive complaints about obscene emails I can blacklist users from a cookie, their IP address, I can make emails for registered users only and I can do others deterrents also but I don't really want to so yeah keep the emails cool ok?

Some other quick things I've done with the site within the last few days:

- I got the videos tab started so now there's a comprehensive list of all the videos that are available on the site all in one tab

- I wrote a little more on the characters profiles and I got some of the photo albums optimized and uploaded so they are now available on each characters profile and they'll all be available soon from the pics tab

- I made a new sick Flash banner that took about a day to set up. It was a little hard trying to get the video to pause on the last frame and have the link to Th3Show.com in the bottom left corner. The rest took about an hour to set-up like the explosion with the title and the sweeps of the characters pics but like I said the damn still of the banner after the movie was done and the link to Th3Show.com took hours to perfect and it's still not the absolute best but pretty damn close.

- I resized the voice comment link on the home tab and removed the welcome message that was there and I also updated the page that appears after a visitor successfully logs in at Th3Show.com Many more numerous optimization updates were performed within the last several days to the website.

I'm working on many more dynamic features that I expect to release within the next few days, weeks, months and years so check back often I'll announce new features here very soon!

More Videos, Photo Albums, Optimization

Thursday, October 4, 2007 2:11 AM

I've encoded and uploaded about 10 videos the last couple of days.

The videos started to pile up on the characters profiles so I inserted a code to where when someone clicked on a video to watch it the video would open in a new custom-sized window and automatically play after it was loaded. This was so that all the videos didn't load when the page was visited which would take a while on slower internet connections. I also made some of the videos available on the video tab and I will make a comprehensive photo gallery on the pics tab as well.

I also got some of the characters photo albums set-up. I optimized the pics and created thumbnails for the photo album and also made links on each profile that opened the photo album in a new custom-sized window.

I will probably keep the Flash videos for everyone to see and make downloadable videos available for registered users. I got the voice comment all set-up on the home tab and I'm gonna start working on the music for each character and making their songs available on their profiles as well as the music tab.

This week I have been studying for a new Apple Certification and I have been suffering from an episode of cluster migraines so I haven't really had time to work much on the site but I haven't forgotten about it and I am still working on getting all of the features developed. I posted a bulletin on MySpace announcing the new re-designed site and a few people have looked at the site because of it and I thank you all for looking. I'm also working on submitting reruns of Th3Show with new commercial bits in them for TheWebsiteForTheShow so that I can start spreading the word about the new updated site.

I gotta go to the dentist tomorrow at noon so I'm gonna hit the sack right now but when I get back from getting drilled I'm gonna start working on getting some more videos up on the profiles and upload the rest of the characters photo albums so that everyone will have their own videos and photo albums available by the end of the night so check back before midnight for new updates!

TheShow Update Info Part 2

Thursday, September 27, 2007 1:35 AM

After almost a year of being offline the website for the show is back with its second major design update!

Many new features are in the works of being developed for the site and the new season is almost ready for release. There are a few new characters and some even newer ones that have still yet to be seen.

Visitors can soon signup and login to view exclusive content and enjoy unlimited access of all the many great features the new website for the show will soon have to offer including an online forum, special video downloads, wallpapers, The Show AIM icons, and more!

The online store is already up and running and DVD's are ready to be shipped upon completing your order. More merchandise is coming soon for the online store including the show mousepad, t-shirts, hats, autographed material and much more.

Thursday, September 27, 2007 6:24 AM

The site has had a few development advancements within the past few hours.

Now visitors can signup and register an account to access restricted content that will be added in the near future.

The css styles for the pages has been written and div classes have been defined. Meaning there will be much more design enhancements to the site soon!

More items have been included in the navigation menu tab. Instead of being left out until their development I have decided to include the menu tab items so that now only the development of the functions are required whereas I would usually develop under the hood and design a layout on the page to incorporate the feature I find it easier to have the design roughly setup so that I can just add the developed features accordingly.

I am brainstorming different ideas for the site and have a few other ideas for some additional features that I am holding off on for the time being. The sun will be coming up soon I should probably try to get some sleep. I'll try to work on some stuff for the site later on in the evening I'll post another news update here when there's more stuff to announce.

Thursday, September 27, 2007 1:39 PM

I'm starting to work more on the site right now.

I plan on getting the character pages completely designed; the layout of the pages at least. I want to throw some Flash videos from scenes of The Show up on the site and I'm gonna spice-up the Home page some more to make it look oh-so-sweet. I have some more banners for the character pages I need to make in Photoshop and I want to set-up the contact links and photo albums for each character as well.

Keep checking out this site throughout the day because I am going to be updating it all day and once I have a page somewhat updated I will save it, upload it so it's updated on the site, then I will post another news entry notifying visitors of specifically what updates performed. You can see the last time the site was updated by the updated information window at the bottom of the page.

I have a lot of other features I want to develop but I first want to make the site all dialed in design-wise before I work on developing new features so basically once everything is set-up on all the present links that say "coming soon" with actual functional content then I will start working on new features that do not have previews for them already. One unmentioned feature I will develop is accordion drop-down menus for the news articles to make them easier to view.

To be continued...

TheShow Is Back With Its Second Major Update!

Friday, September 28, 2007 12:14 AM

Here is a progress report on recent updates to this site.

Ok so it's midnight right now and I've been working on the site for over 10 hours and the following is a list of what has been updated.

I made the menu bar at the top of the page with drop-down attributes. After that I was spent hours dealing with a huge problem setting up the character tab. At first I was gonna put a vertical menu bar with drop-downs for each characters bio, email, photo album, movies, music etc. but I didn't want the page to reload every time a visitor wanted to view someone's profile. Also it would make it difficult for the design of the site if I made the page reload since the rest of the site is structured around AJAX syntax that prevents the site from loading through spry CSS.

I wanted to utilize the new features available in Dreamweaver CS3 which has a new and easy method for inserting spry ajax into the site. Much like the menu tabs I wanted the character tab to have links to each characters page but I didn't want the links to reload the pages or open the profiles in a different window. Basically it makes it easy to jump from one profile to the next without reloading the web page and it makes designing and updating the site easy as well since I do not have to update the menu links for every page because there is only one page with frames inside the page for different areas.

So each characters profile is inside a frame and all the content included in each menu tab is inside its own frame as well. I guess you can think of it as being in one living room with different frames on the wall so you can see outside content without leaving the initial room. I guess it would be more like being in a security surveillance room where you can view video feeds or other up-to-date dynamic content without leaving the room and having to physically walk to where the action was taking place.

So after hours and hours of work I have finally developed the characters tab. Now you can go to TheWebsiteForTheShow and click on the characters tab and have a menu bar with each characters name as a link that when clicked will display their respective profile without reloading the web page! Using xml to achieve this feature I have also discovered that dynamic content can be displayed on each frame so I can create exclusive forms for the characters of The Show that upon submission their re sluts will be displayed on their profile. I can also use this knowledge and technology to create an online forum and comment feature.

There are some other things I can do using spry and ajax some of which include a feature where if you click on a picture it can resize with animation and I can also have a feature where if you click the header of the menu items it organizes them so you can re-organize the menu by age, height, alphabetic name, etc.

There is tons and tons more I plan on developing for this site within the next few months for portfolio purposes, practice, just to see if it can be done, and oh of course it's all for The Show ;)

Check back soon on this blog and also keep reloading the site because this is the time when things are being updated at a consistent basis! Remember to look at the updated window to see when the site was last updated which is very often at this time!

Friday, September 28, 2007 3:43 PM

Some more design updates have happened this afternoon.

I have made accordion drop-down links for the news articles to make them easier to navigate because the articles were starting to pile up. I also added some css styles to the accordion links like the link color, text size and style, border width and color etc.

I am working on setting up the profile pages with more content so there will soon be areas for each characters movies, blog, photoalbum, and email. The design for the character tab has been finished and now I just need to add content through the xml file. I am thinking down the road a ways to when I will develop a feature where each character can edit their profile and choose which movies they would like showcased although this wouldn't be developed until further down the road.

So for today I will take a few movies and convert them to Flash and start working on embedding the flash movies using spry to have each movie displayed on the characters profile from the characters tab. This is all done without refreshing the website, only the content is loaded when each characters profile is visited but the page does not refresh so it saves time from having to reload things like the banner, the menu, the footer, etc. which is the same on every page. Only the relevant files that are required to view the page are loaded while the site itself remains the same.

Now that the site is starting to be put together and the styles have been written it becomes easier to update content since you can see where something is placed and how it will look. I have not had any difficulties yet today with the design progress although I've only worked a few hours on the site mostly writing CSS and blogs oh and the accordion drop-down menus.

Expect to see some videos on the character page by the end of the day I will probably put three best-of videos on each profile and start with one profile and finish before I move on to start putting videos on the next profile. Once the videos are done I will move on the adding music, then photo albums, then a blog for each. When I have that all set-up probably in the next few days then I will start working on the contact links for the characters which will have an area where visitors can fill out a form and write a message that is send to the email of the character.

So yeah I'm gonna start working on converting some videos over to Flash so I can start putting them online so while I get started working on that check back soon to see the videos!

Saturday, September 29, 2007 7:15 PM

Some of the characters videos have been encoded and uploaded to the site and are now available.

At first I encoded a batch of videos but they were all different aspect ratios so I went back to original source files and re-encoded the videos so they were all the same size and larger so it's not like watching a video through a postage stamp.

I was having trouble getting videos to display on the first character link from the character tab so I decided to have my profile first on the tab because there's not any videos for me except my editing demo reel which I have made available as a URL link.

I got my photo album set-up and it was easy to have links go to my email, music etc. but I still don't know what I'm gonna put on the blog window for myself since I am basically writing blogs here in the news tab but I dunno I'll come up with something for it because I want the character tab to be some-what entertaining but if the first character you see is me and it's just links to other pages it will take the visitor away from TheWebsiteForTheShow before they had a chance to look at the other character profiles which are much more entertaining. The only reason I put up a profile for myself is because sometimes people wonder who the person is behind the camera and I wanted to provide a little bit of detail of what I am all about.

I put some more tabs on the page today so visitors can go right to the videos, music, blogs, and I made a separate tab for logging in because it was first on the Home tab but visitors thought that ALL the content on TheWebsiteForTheShow required users to log in which is not true so I moved the login tab to the far right next to the signup tab. The top menu bar at the very very top of the page has been designed but the links just go back to this page because I am still working on the features for them which I do not expect to be developed for another few months or so because I am focusing my attention on uploading the videos then I'll get the photo albums for the characters all set-up and the music after that.

I basically have a plan of developing all the features down the tab line with exception to the signup and login functions which have already been developed. Of course I have more plans but I do not have any indications as to what other features I will make available until I have developed the existing features.

Oh on another note just real quick I wanted to mention that I informed Bryan of the new site which is under construction and when I finally got him to visit the site he immediately went to his profile and the picture that was displayed was unacceptable to him which he did not fail to mention. He demanded that I change the picture then tried to send me some cheesy pic he took with his hair all combed over lookin' all stupid-like and I was like no way am I putting that dumb ass photo on my site so there was a conflict of interest. My guess is that since he is going to court soon for a DUI and possession of drugs charge he wants to look like some angel that lives in his parents basement but seriously though like he's the first person in the world to go to court and look like some prince gimme a break for cryin' out loud. Yeah like having some beautiful pic on TheWebsiteForTheShow where you're skipping in a field somewhere donating to charity is gonna get you an acquittal so I guess the news update for this entry is: Bryan, it's TheShow for Christ's' sake. You're supposed to look like a jackass. Get over it ya baby!

I'll probably put one or two more videos up later tonight and I'll put some more up tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

Th3Show.com Renewed For Another 10 Years

Wednesday, January 10, 2007 2:27 AM

TheWebsiteForTheShow has been renewed for another 3 years until 2010 and there have been some minor changes to the site recently.

There is no more URL forwarding for the website.  What does that mean?  Now you can find other pages of the site by typing the page name in after the Domain name.  For instance to find Joey’s Page you can type http://thewebsitefortheshow.com/joey in your browser to go to his page.  Before you had to navigate to the page through the website because the site’s URL was forwarded and masked so no matter what page you went to on the site it always said thewebsitefortheshow in the address bar.

The same great features are still available and the production crew for “The Show” has been hard at work trying to release the new season by early ’07.  A new season of Podcasts are expected to be released around the same time and the manufacturing department is working on some new products that will be available through the Online Store for The Show.  The first 10 one-hour long special edition DVD’s are currently available at the store as season packages with free shipping!

This website hasn't’t been updated in a while because we’re in the process of updating our production system and we’re waiting for the Intel-mac version of Flash and Photoshop to be released before we make our purchase(s)/updates.  This will probably be the last update to (version 1) of this site and we estimate the new website (version 2) to be released Summer ‘07

One of the first things you might notice different on TheWebsiteForTheShow (besides the new layout of the pages) is the features window.  Here you can check out new features available through TheWebsiteForTheShow including a Guestmap, AIM Chat, Paypal donation, and Vote feature.

-Place a pin on the Guestmap and see fans of “The Show” from all over the world.

-Text, Voice, or Video Chat with up to eight people on voice or 4 people on video w/ your AIM or .mac account by clicking on the chat icon button.  The icon will change from “online to “offline” depending on my online chat status.

-Send a secure donation through your Paypal account or make a donation on your Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discovery card by clicking on the Paypal Donation button.

-Vote on different listed topics or even cast your vote to have a character ELIMINATED and see the results of what other people voted for when you click on the Vote button.

These are just some of the features I have available right now and I’m working on getting the STORE all put together and now that I have the Paypal all set-up the next step is getting the merchandise available so if anyone actually BUYS something I’ll have it ready to ship out. Another thing I'm working on is a Password-Protected page that will have special features for subscribers where you can watch even more videos and listen to Podcasts from the cast and crew of "The Show".  All-in-all, TheWebsiteForTheShow just keeps getting better and better.

TheWebsiteForTheShow.com Is Launched

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 1:53 AM

Today TheWebsiteForTheShow is starting to be put together.  I’ve thrown a couple of pages up real quick for people to check out and they’ll only get better as time passes.  I’ll need a week or so (probably sooner) to compress some video files so that they can be viewed on the website and I’m working on getting some pics from “The Show” that I can put together as albums for each character on their bio page.  I already have Jacob’s page pretty much dialed in except for the videos but you can check out his photo album and listen to his playlists.  I don’t know what I want for the Home Page yet but what I have so far I like.

As far as “The Show” itself goes I’m putting some storyboards together for the new season that’ll include having seven contestants selected by random with the challenge of becoming the final contestant to avoid being terminated.
